A Mentor in Your Ears: What Mentoring Music Is and Why We Built It
Not everyone gets a mentor. That’s the problem we built Ten Mentors around. But there’s a second problem hiding behind the first one, and it took us longer to see. Even people who get great advice lose it. You hear something that could change your year, you nod, and by Friday it’s gone. Not because you’re lazy. Because life is loud and nothing holds the lesson in place.
So we asked a strange question. What if a mentor could be with you when no mentor is around? On the drive to work. At the gym. In the five minutes before a hard conversation.
The answer is a mentor in your ears.
What is mentoring music?
Mentoring music is music built around a real lesson, not just a feeling. Every track carries a principle you can act on. Most music is written to make you feel something. Mentoring music is written to help you remember something, and it uses the one thing music does better than any book, podcast or course: it stays. You forget pages. You forget episodes. You do not forget a chorus.
Ten Mentors created the category. We are the first dedicated home of mentoring music, and we built it because guidance shouldn’t stop when the conversation ends. It should be something you can press play on.
Three albums, three jobs
We have three albums so far, and each one does a different job.
The Strength Album is for the hard seasons. Resilience, backbone, getting up again.
Getting Stuff Done is for the days when you know exactly what to do and still don’t do it. Discipline and follow-through, set to a rhythm.
Mind the Mind is for the noise between your ears. The inner critic, the overthinking, the voice that talks you out of things.
You can hear them on our SoundCloud, and they come with the Ten Mentors Box, sitting alongside the book and the journal. The book helps you think. The journal helps you reflect. The music helps you stay with it.
Why “a mentor in your ears” matters
A mentor’s real gift isn’t information. It’s timing. The right word at the right moment. That’s exactly what a song can do. It arrives in the middle of your life, uninvited, right when your motivation drops or your thinking gets noisy, and it carries the lesson back to you.
Advice is everywhere now. It’s free, instant and infinite. What people lack is follow-through, and follow-through needs a companion, not another article. That’s what mentoring music is. A mentor in your ears, anytime you need one.
